”What are you doing here again, you should be on maternity leave?” my colleagues cry out as I once again try to discretely sneak into my office.
I can’t help myself. Despite my huge belly and backaches I really feel at home in our brand new office. Here comes one of those forbidden clichés; this company really is to me my family.
When we started FutuVision Media we were just a handful of enthusiastic people with not much more than that vision of what we could achieve. My bedroom was turned into a studio where we took our first baby steps in becoming the established media house we are today, located in a spacious penthouse in the centre of Tampere, with fantastic studio facilities and an international crew I never dared to dream I would be able to work with. So don’t blame me if I find it hard to stay away from a work place that offers me daily challenges and daily fun!
What I have mostly learned to appreciate is the sincerity of our management and staff. A company really is as good as the people working in it. Just like from a real family, I have received help and advice for my new journey: having a baby. All the support has been overwhelming and I know I will continue to receive it from my colleagues in the future as well. Embracing now this brand new situation, staying at home with a child, seems less of a challenge, when I know I can always turn to my ”FutuVision family”.
The real challenge in running a company that is as rapidly growing as FutuVision Media is keeping the family atmosphere alive. As we become bigger and busier it is harder to get to know everyone on a personal level. So far we have managed to keep our original values and hopefully we will never become a faceless corporation no matter how big we get. Success certainly has its price and we must keep that in mind as we boldly take on new ventures and co-operations.
So as I am starting a new family with my husband I also take pride in the fact that I have been a part of creating this bigger family called FutuVision Media. I hope both of my babies will continue to grow, stay healthy and above all bring joy to others.
I wish to thank our fantastic team and our partners for the exciting years we have experienced together and I am sure there will be many more to come. Now I enter the world of sleepless nights and endless nappy changing, but don’t be surprised if you see me sneaking around the office every now and then. You should never stay away from your family too long!
